Jaya Mental health

PROJECT: Mental Health Support
LOCATION OF IMPACT: Southern Asia
PROJECT COST: £10,000
Right now, millions of people in South Asia are struggling to cope with mental illness directly influenced by the climate crisis, but are not receiving the care and support they desperately need.
Jaya Mental Health is fighting this injustice by giving mental health support to people struggling with mental illness. Our team trains and upskills local nurses, healthcare workers and volunteers so people in communities across South Asia have someone to turn to for help.
Currently we are delivering a vital but challenging programme of support in a mountainous region of Nepal that has one of the highest rates of suicide in the country. This is partly due to the receding glaciers and lack of glacial run off used by farmers to grow their crops. In the future, we hope to reach many more remote communities across South Asia.
